Job Description
The successful candidate will teach exercise science courses at the undergraduate and Master's level. Quality performance will be expected in teaching, professional growth and development, university and community service, and in the area of scholarly productivity.
Education & Experience:
+ A doctorate from a regionally accredited institution or university in exercise physiology, or closely related discipline. (ABD will be considered with a short term contract at an adjusted rank and salary).
+ A minimum of 18 graduate hours for every field in which the candidate will teach.
+ A teaching, scholarship, and service record in his/her discipline meriting appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
+ Ability to teach undergraduate/graduate coursework in a variety of exercise science areas, including multiple of the following: introduction to exercise science; exercise physiology; bio-mechanics; exercise in chronic disease and disabilities; exercise and aging; youth fitness/performance; nutrition for health and performance; program development/management in the fitness industries; seminar in exercise science; exercise testing and prescription; medical terminology.
+ American College of Sports Medicine membership.
+ Familiarity with the knowledge and skills specific to ACSM's Certified Exercise Physiologist (EP-C) examination.
+ An understanding of and commitment to support the mission of the University.
+ Willingness to instruct courses in one or both summer semesters for additional compensation as departmental need dictates.
+ Willingness to instruct online courses as departmental need dictates.
+ Willingness to work in a culturally diverse environment.
