Job Description
The Program Coordinator I, under general supervision, coordinates the planning, development and implementation of assigned program.Responsibilities:-Participates in the admissions process coordinated by the Office of Student Affairs. Specifically, evaluates the transcripts of prospective students and identifies missing prerequisite coursework, relay information about prerequisite course equivalents as necessary, evaluates PharmCAS and supplemental applications, collects transcripts and other admissions related documents (e.g., results from drug screens and background checks), updates the admissions and PharmCAS webpages as needed, assembles new student files and the Early and Regular Decision rank lists for interviews and admissions, and updates PharmCAS and supplemental applications as needed in PharmCAS and BAMF, respectively. Also keeps abreast of changes to the core curriculum established by the THECB and maintains student records consistent with university policy and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).-Provides information to prospective students about the Doctor of Pharmacy program (e.g., structure of the curriculum, cost of attendance, etc.), answers questions from prospective, newly admitted and current students, communicates information to newly admitted students about important upcoming activities or events (e.g., deadlines for required documentation, information about pre-orientation and general orientation, etc.). Also relays information in the student handbook relevant to admissions and maintaining continuous enrollment (e.g., requirement for maintaining health insurance).-Participates in the recruiting efforts of the Office of Student Affairs. Specifically, contributes to updating recruitment materials (e.g., undergraduate, high school and middle school brochures, etc.) and the prospective student webpage, participates in recruiting events at middle schools, high schools, universities and community colleges to present information about the college and the Doctor of Pharmacy program, develops relationships with the advisors of pre-pharmacy associations and career counselors to encourage prospective student inquires and applications, provides information for recruiting reports, and contributes ideas for improving recruiting efforts.-Uses PharmCAS and BAMF to track applications and supplemental applications, respectively, and to provide information for admissions reports (e.g., number of applicants from South Texas). Uses HOWDY and COMPASS to verify registration of P1, P2, P3 and P4 students and to obtain pertinent student information (e.g., local address, GPA, etc.) for reports.-Participates in periodic meetings of the OEE to discuss program proposals, developments and needs. Develops and submits reports involving the experiential education program as needed. Assists the Assistant/Associate Dean(s) in developing and maintaining ongoing preceptor development programs and newsletters.-Serves as the liaison for the Office of International Student Services at TAMU and the Rangel College of Pharmacy. In this role, assists international students with enrolling, financial aid, maintaining enrollment, and other issues pertaining to international students.-Assists the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs in preparing admissions reports, updating the Student Handbook, and developing or updating recruitment brochures.-Other duties as assigned.-Monitors the completion and collection of all student and preceptor evaluations, during the Pre-APPE and the APPE experiences. Assists the Assistant/Associate Dean with identifies and resolves related issues by communicating with students and preceptors.
Required Education and Experience:-Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience-Two years of program administration experience
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:-Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications-Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Verbal and written communication skills.
