Job Description Position Summary: The Sales Associate’s primary responsibility is to drive sales by consistently providing our customers world class customer service which will support our mission of being “the most helpful hardware stores on the planet!” However, outstanding service by itself is not enough. Sales Associates must be capable and comfortable with the SALES process and strive to have a positive impact on driving up our sales. Sales Associates are also responsible for merchandising product, maintaining specific areas within the store, and supporting the management team. A personality and approach that strongly represents our Values and Expectations is essential along with an enthusiastic, positive, supportive sales focused attitude. The “Promise” Sales Associates are expected to pledge to keep the customer first and foremost regardless of his / her specific role. Sales Associates are expected abide by all company policies and procedures. Major Responsibilities: The major responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following: Puts “Customers First, Tasks Second.” Ensure each customer receives outstanding service. Constantly focus on offering world class service and knowledge to our customers. Assist customers in locating merchandise in store, on ACENET, processing special orders and promote add-on sales. Maintain awareness of all promotions, advertisements, services and provide this information to our customers. Execute the daily operational goals and priorities assigned by store management, including pricing and merchandising. Recognition of merchandising issues, stock problems, pricing concerns, labeling and signage issues, etc. within your area of responsibility and/or the store as a whole; and notification of management on these issues. Continually work on increasing knowledge of the products we sell and their uses. Actively participate and assist in the training and development of peers and new team members. Work to process of new shipments and help the team to keep the receiving and back room areas clean and organized. Competence in all services offered to our customers (keys, paint, screens, etc.) Personally responsible for pursuing in-store training. Uphold store cleanliness and safety standards. Conscious of shoplifting activity. The minimum requirements for this position include: High School diploma or GED equivalent. Possess product knowledge of hardware related products along with a willingness to learn. Sales and/or marketing experience with retail programs, establishing relationships and working with customers. Previous experience in a retail environment either in marketing, sales, receiving, stocking or back office. Knowledge of retail computer systems, Outlook (or other email), MS Word and Excel a plus. A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction, placing the customer first. Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent communication skills, exceptional organizational ability, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task. Must be able to lift 50 pounds frequently to unload freight, stock, and load and unload customer orders, Ability to stand for up to two (2) hours without a break, and throughout the day, except during breaks. Ability to hear, understand and communicate orally and in writing with staff and customers in-person and on the phone. Ability to bend and twist, push and pull, stoop, kneel and move quickly to perform duties and serve the customer. Ascend and descend ladder and ability to work at heights. Must possess a current valid Driver’s License.
